yes guys..

it has been 3 months since I last updated my blog.

life has been busy since then, lots of stuff happened since April

Of course finals week. I couldn't remember how many finals did i sit for, but what the heck. I did well overall for that semester, got to improve my GPA, and I was happy!
Shell Camp. We flew to Robert, Louisiana for a 5 days Drilling and Production Camp. It was a totally different experience. The setting of the facility is very similar to the offshore platform. Oh, I got flipped upside down in a helicopter, into a freaking 12 feet pool! Nerve-wrecking it was, but it was fun after all! Got to know lots of people too! BP officers were around too, working on the oil spill in the Gulf.
Field Camp!! Tell you what, this was my best experience as a Geoscience student so far! I fell in love with the nature and the outdoor stuffs. I personally loved the Grand Teton and camping in the Wildhorse despite the fact that I didn't shower for 4 days! And I got to know every single Geosc student whom I never got to talk to before. I love them all!!
After the 6 weeks field camp, here I am stranded in State College. I really have nothing to do until mid August I must say. Well actually I have to do the readings for my research. I haven't emailed my advisor yet about this matter.

My mission for this summer is to get a driver's license. Lot of things to learn tho, and hopefully everything's gonna be fine.

*this is an email in the scheduler's inbox, from one of the managers. the purpose is to inform us, the schedulers, and the rest of the managers about this 'mat labu' and how he has been fired by akak manager kte tuh*

oh btw, semua nama watak dalam situasi ini telah ditukar untuk respect privacy.

'Mat Labu' punched in around 9:00am and went up to stock L****s, I confirmed that he was up there. 'Kak Jah' informed me around noonish that she hasn’t seen him since around 10ish. My first sweep of the building found no one. On the second sweep of the building, 'Kak Melah' found him in the computer lab. I decided my feet were tired of walking around and so I sat down beside him. He said he didn’t have anything to do. Soooo, I collected the L****s keys from him and fired him. 'Salmah', I don’t know if he punched out, but 10am would be his official end time for me since that was the last time he was seen working.

Please make sure he is black listed.

comment: mengerikan je the last statement pasal blacklist tuh. huhu..now my job is to remove him from the system and give his employee's card to the manager. kesian gak si 'mat labu' ni. org dah cakap dah berkali-kali dah, jangan escape ke computer lab tyme keje. kalau kantoi, memang kene pecat.

last night's result didn't seem to effect my overall standing in the AI pools I join. thank God.

but i still think the judges could have waited couple more weeks before they use the save. not that i dont like Big Mike, and it was a big shock that he got the least amount of votes last night, but i think the save could have been used for say, Casey James? idk.

btw, i was just done with my geobio presentation a moment ago. i think we did good as far as the contents are concern, but we did quite bad in the time department. one of us took like double the time that was allocated to each presenter. the victim? me!
it's harsh to say i'm the victim. lol
well, i was the one who were affected by that. I had to talk like there's no tomorrow, bombarding my words like a train, until there was one guy who had to ask me to slow down. no disrespect for him, but i just couldn't slow it down coz the other group member had to present her part too, in a very limited amount of time. i'm not pointing finger to anyone because i could have reminded him during the presentation that he have exceeded the time limit. but sadly, i didnt do that; neither of us did actually. *sigh*

after all, i was happy because the works that we have been putting together in this presentation turned out to be good.

and the fact that Peter (the professor) gave a tap on my shoulder and said "good job" just made my day!! **big grin**

first up, Aaron Kelly. "Long and Winding Road"
Kinda like the playback, where all the contestants talked about what they think of him.
the singing:
me: i like the huskiness in his voice. couple pitch problems. i think the song is too big to him. but, it's a nice try.
randy: I like your tone; hate the arrangement.
ellen: you're fantastic; but I dont know
kara: the same performance every week. I want to see you move on stage.
simon: i'm curious about the song choice, and the arrangement. old fashioned, very boring. you've got to become young and relevant.

Katie Stevens. "Let It Be"
me: good voice control. she connected with the audience thru her emotion. i don't like the 2nd half of the song.
randy: ur best performance ever. hot vocals. ridiculous
ellen: there is no way ure gonna be in the bottom 3. that was amazing
kara: u make the song ur own. ure blossomming, ure confident, pretty amazing. so proud of u
simon: tonight, u got it right. i can hear country. it was a lot better. well done.

Andrew Garcia."Can't Buy Me Love"
me: i just dont like the way he sings. the expression and phrasing is just herrendous. tried to hard to belt that high notes, and it was pitchy. i think he's in danger.
randy: solid performance, a bit corny, just alright.
ellen: perfect song choice for u, and i love it
kara: i wanna love it but i wanna see more, something new from u
simon: very corny, old fashioned, irrelevant. i think u got it wrong tonight. sorry.

Michael Lynch a.k.a. Big Mike. "Eleanor Rigby"
me: nice setting. love the strings. he has this crazy vocal. the 2nd half of the song was beautiful. love the energy.
randy: i love big mike, u feeling urself.
ellen: u can do everything. so many different sides of u. i thought that was incredible
kara: i thought that was fire. those vocal was amazing. it makes u commercial. great job
simon: i didnt love that as much as the other three. it's something u see in musical. i thought it was just too over the top. i kinda confuse of what kinda artist u are becoming.

Crystal Bowersox. "Come Together"
me: she rocks. awesome as always. but i think she can do better than that. she kept looking at her guitar, which was kinda distracting.
randy: yo! another solid performance. idk if it was ur best. it definitely worked. ure in the zone
ellen: its just u never fail to amaze me. amazing job. i loved it.
kara: one of my favorite performances from u. it was sexy, playful, ure more accessible tonight
simon: that's a performance i can hear on the radio. as always, terrific and much better than last week.

Tim Urban. "All My Loving"
me:he actually sounded good. but he's gonna go home anytime now. i dont like it, but i dont hate it either.
randy: i think that was a much better performances than the last couple of weeks. it was a good tim's performance
ellen: ur 2nd good performance
kara: u did take some of our criticisms.
simon: i thought u did really well with that song. there is no gimmick, just the right thing to do, u didnt try to oversing it. u take the criticism like a man. i'm very2 proud of u.

Casey James. "Jealous Guy"
me: beautiful song. he looked so confident with his guitar. good vocals too. this is a different side of him. he showed some vulnerability. i love it! the best so far.
randy: i love to see the whole sensitive vibe from u. it was really good. it was so heartfelt
ellen: ur best performance to date. so soulful. it was beautiful
kara: what u showed tonight was vulnerability which u were lacking before. (*omg, we thought the same thing!*) u could still do more.
simon: i think it was the best performance of the night so far. it showed completely differently side of u. (*omg, i was thinking like simon!*)

Siobhan Magnus. "Across The Universe"
me: i dont know why her voice sounds nasal. no screaming high note this time. good pitching. not her best performance, but better than last week
randy: love the outfit. little sleepy. i love seeing the tender side from u.
ellen: u really should always honor who u are, u r special. it was beautiful
kara: u hit the notes, u showed control. it was very restrained and polite. i am still a fan, u connected very personally.
simon: i think u came back much much stronger. u are unpredictable. u were much much much better than last week.

Lee Dewyze. "Hey Jude"
me: omg, he's smiling while he sings. ridiculous vocals as always. i like this performance, there's even a bagpipe player who joined him in the middle of the song. the audience went crazy
randy: it was another hot performance for u.
ellen: u showed confidence, ure smiling more. great job, i love it.
kara: im still a fan. i can hear u on the radio. it's hot
simon: it was weird with the bagpipe player.

overall, everyone did great. it is hard to predict who will go home. however the best performance of the night is definitely Casey James.

and here's my prediction:

bottom 3: Aaron Kelly, Tim Urban, Andrew Garcia
bottom 2: Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia
will go home: this is a hard pick. but i would say Aaron Kelly.

i love dropping classes at the very last minute.

i dropped my women studies class last night. made my decision after went through the assignment details which I think a total bullshit! hahahaha..why do I have to force myself reading ridiculous stuffs which I really don't have to know at this point. so be it.

i'm now pretty laid back with just 12 credits. there are only 2 major classes, one writing workshop, and one choir course. hehehehe..

so, i hope i have made the right decision.

**p/s: cant wait to register for Fall 2010 classes on March 20th. but, i'm gonna be at Denver by that time. have to figure out a way to get online and register. *sigh*

The week has been crazy. I mean work. Class is going fine. But there were lots of problem at work. With the computer glitch and everything, the scheduler's office has turned into a mess. But thank God, we fixed everything and that was not easy. It had me working my ass off for 8hours, went home at 1am in the morning. Thanks Barbara, the head scheduler who was so helpful, patient and fun at the same time. Now that the problem has been fixed, we had nothing to do just now. The 4 hour shift just seemed too long to handle! haha..

And its Martin Luther King day tomorrow hence no class! yeay!

Oh yeah. Winter break was super fun!!!! The road trip from Las Vegas to Hoover Dam to Grand Canyon to San Diego to Los Angeles and finally to San Francisco was awesome!! Thanks a lot to my 'carmates': Nysa and Sheikh (drivers) and Zawa. I had fun you guys! Thanks again for making this trip memorable.
Spent a lot of money **A LOT!!!** for sure, but they are all worth it. I love San Francisco the most. I do love Grand Canyon too, but it's a different kind of love. It's just the love that comes with passion. yes, I am so passionate about rocks nowadays, believe it or not. hahaha..i sound like a geologist now am i? hah! My jaw dropped all the time whenever I saw the canyons. They were breathtaking! That's like the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life! And I promise myself to go to the Grand Canyon for the second time before I graduated.

Talking about class, I hope this semester will run smoothly. I am taking a Geobiology class where there is a field trip to Denver! yes, Denver, Colorado. It's going to be a 5 days field trip and we'll be looking for fossils. dinasour traces and stuff like that. sounds fun right?

Well, that's a whole lot of updates for now.

borak2 panjang ngan wan tadi over our late lunch (when i was supposedly be in class listening to Sridhar's lecture on glacier), aku rase mcm byk sgt bende dah berlaku dlm hidup kteorg. we shared lots of stories tentang families, tentang pahit manis hidup memasing. how we went through the 2 years of our life in KMB. and macam mane kteorg penah buat ibu masing2 tersinggung, cerita tentang pengalaman dapat result pmr, spm and IB. within that short period of one hour, kteorg mcm menyelongkar balik diari hidup masing2. and that was when i realized that Ive been through a lot of things and that time flew so fast.

and then I went home to know that I missed the first lecture in Glacier chapter, by a great Glaciologist, Sridhar Anandakrishnan. **sighhhh***

we stayed up late last night, and went to bed at about 3.30am.

guess what we were doing?

believe it or not, fawwaz, fashli and myself did some home decor. the furniture arrangements were changed here and there.

and there u go, our apartment looks new! hahaha..

EXCEPT for the shoe part. yeah, this house has a lot of shoes (i mean super duper banyak) that if we were to arranged them neatly, it will only stay arranged for no more than one day.

so next up, we gonna get a couple of shoe rack, and then our decor mission will be completed! yeay!

Sbb die include banyak giler gampang lagu, and each song ada like 10 perkataan je before switching to another song. Paling best pun time die tarik sore nyanyi 'Dia....Isabella......' like what she did during AJL last time.
Hafiz's vocal doesn't shine much in the album. He is far better performing live. The fact that ade singles from AF7 finalists dlm album die sgt tak perlu. Mcm mane album die nk qualify for any award show? Mmg mustahil. He just kissed goodbye to AIM.

my days since the 1st day of Syawal have been very hectic. pagi raya last week mmg busy giler..mlm raya, i was spending my time in the kitchen preparing laksa sarawak until 2.30 in the morning, but the dishes were still undone. *sigh*

I woke up late pagi raya tuh, like 9am, so x sempat sembahyang raya pun..sampai2 je kt HUB lawn, org dah bersalam-salaman. So what I did was, snaping pictures!! =)right after sembahyang raya ada potluck raya kt college park, which this was the reason why I prepared laksa. but, dtg college park, dgn laksa yg x siapnye, so kelam kabut la sambung masak kt dapur rumah si nadia tuh..hahahaha..anyway, sambutan kt college park mmg meriah ya amats!! bising gler wey! hahahaha..dari college park ke rumah bashe, then rumah kak ifah and finally rumah kak lia..and it was like 8 at night when I reached home. EXHAUSTED!

and the class ran as usual. oh yeah, I went to The Fray concert on Monday night. It was pretty awesome. I bought their CD. And trust me, they have really good musics.

and then there came saturday. i worked at 8am as usual. balik kerja terus shower and siap2 utk beraya..UMNO at PSU ada buat open house kat UT..sgt best! i wore my 2nd baju raya...took lots and lots of pics..and food was fantastic! went home terus tido, sbb penat giler..sbb the previous night, main squash sampai 12am, n then went to bed at 2am..pastuh, bangun awal plak nak keje kan? so yesterday mmg a heck of a day for me.. but i enjoyed every second of it. =D

and today, ade plak field trip. thank God, they put me in the noon slot. So didnt have to worry about getting up early.

this week is gonna be very busy for me.
I have assignments and labs due almost everyday. 1 lab on wednesday, 2 labs due on Friday. and exam on tuesday! ohhhhh..tak start study pun lagi..matilah!!

it is one week until 1 Syawal but yet, I feel nothing about it except just some random chat about how we celebrated raya back home during Iftar at the masjid just now.

yeah, frankly, i miss decorating my house..hanging all the kad raya even though nowadays, we less likely give kad raya to others..blame the technology? hurmm..

and i miss the chaos in my nenek's house, how everyone else in the house cannot disturb my nenek's lemang..she's the only one who knows from A to Z in regards to that..

of course I miss salam salam with my family..to see mum's tears whenever she salam my nenek..my brother's tears whenever he salam my mum..but i pelik..i never had tears time salam2 nih..i dont know the reason why, but maybe i just

i miss ziarah2 too..1st day is to ziarah family, 2nd day for mum and dad'd friends, and i can only 'ngabang' with my friends as we sarawakian calls it, on the 3rd day of raya.

i intentionally start this entry with a sigh.

there are a lot of stuffs that made me sigh in these past couple of days.

froms class scheduling to work, everything is like giving me headache.

i've been adding and dropping classes..it was like my addiction in the first week of class..french 001, kines 046 etc etc, just to name few. I was trying to add my credit beyond 13 credits that I'm having because I think 13 is just too little. LOL

but, in the end, I end up with yeah, only 13 credits. *sigh*

i only have 4 courses, with one course meets once a week and another one meets twice a week.

pretty laid back schedule eh??

work!

ohhh..this seems to burden me especially in this fasting month.

I work early in the morning, from 8am-1.30pm on saturday and sunday (yes, weekend people!) and from 6.48am-11.ooam on Monday. Basically, I work 3 days in a row, and it made my sleep time to be less than 5 hours for 3 consecutive days.

however, not everything is troublesome this semester.

there are some good things too.

i got some monetary awards from EMS and this definitely reduces my financial burden.

i'm hoping and have a lil confident to score a stellar 4.0 this semester. so masuk je junior year, semangat tu membara bara gak ah..ye la kan, dah schedule kosong, kelas x banyak, kalau result teruk tak taw la..hahaha..

and not to forget, i have new companion, a Samsung Jack..hihihi..bought it one day after I arrived from Malaysia. It's a pretty 'smart' phone i can say. LOL

what else?

hurm..yeah! we got a new car! A 2000 Hyundai Sonata. We bought it for only $1300 and it is shared by 8 people! hahaha..

my summer went well

anyway, I have been travelling all around Malaysia, except for pantai timur and sabah.

been to Perlis, and went all the way down to Johor

been to Kuching which took us 12 hours of driving from the northernmost part of sarawak, Miri.

and these are pretty much 80% of Malaysia already. hahaha..

went to Wanie's wedding. the pengantin were gorgeous despite the extremely hot weather. love the maroon and gold theme.

OBS was fun. met a lot of new friends and surely they'll be missed. did some very challenging activities and turned out to be fun after all.

went to Najib's wedding reception in Kuching. sangat meriah okay!!!! their wedding costumes were gorgeous!

basically, i was away from home for 3 weeks out of my only 6 weeks break. blame me for my decision of taking summer classes! hahaha..

the condition overhere is worsening with heightening H1N1 cases plus the jerebu and the kemarau hence the water crisis in most parts of Sarawak. *sigh*

yeah, and a good news that keeps me blushing and pleasantly happy. *lol*

i dont wanna share the story. hahaha..wanna keep it to myself.

I was experiencing both the sunny and rainy New York City today.
Really loved the sunny and windy part of it. Went to the UN for the 1st time.
But the all-of-the-sudden heavy rain turned it off.
The supposedly awesome Times Square experience in the summer turned horrible with us running from one store to another in the hope for the rain to stop.

But, it was good after all.

We did not use the subway at all. Yes! We walked, that my foot hurt really bad right now.

Earlier in the afternoon before we hit the Times Square, we went to the Malaysia General Consulate office because Zul needed to get his emergency travel document. But guess what, he quarrelled with one of the officers regarding issues with time and phone call. You guys dont wanna know why coz I totally think Zul was right. And luckily, the other officer helped him and by 3pm he got that document.

And yeah, we had Halal gyro for lunch and Indian Briyani for dinner (we splitted 2 orders into 4!). And not to forget we spent $37 for parking!! How expensive was that!!! But, considering it's NYC and that we parked for 12hours, it wasnt that bad. It was only like $3 per hour. hurmmm, that more like it. Sounds good.

Oh, this was my 1st experience going to NYC by car. We got to drive around despite the one-hour-stucked-in-the-traffic-jam moment. *sigh* But we enjoyed it so much, coz obviously Subways couldn't do that. haha...

And now, we're already back in the hotel which is only 1 mile from Newark airport. The guys (Fashli and Q) still have half day tomorrow before they depart for State College. We are still figuring out what the plan is gonna be tomorrow.

tadi first time swim kt state college! hurm..in the US perhaps..

yes 1st time!

i love to swim tapi sampai skg nih, x penah ade chance nak swim kt mane2 walaupun dah dekat 2 years dok kat penn state nih..

and tadi petang, we all (the graduates-me, zul, Q, fashli) went to the whipple dam..mmg xde keje kteorg nih and zul suddenly came out with the idea..sounded gay! (ye la, pegi berempat camnih, feeling feeling di kala matahari terbenam..hahaha..radikal sial!!)

but, we had fun! hahaha..main frisbee (this is soooo gay!), swam a bit (i was the only one who swam in that freakin cold water!), bagi itik makan (could this be GAYer??) and tengok wonderful scenery kt lookout tuh (hyper gay!! PERIOD)..mmg chantekkk sebab it was almost sunset tadi..

konklusinya, i'm looking forward to another whipple dam picnic! serius nih!

I only got to watch this awesome movie yesterday, for the first time EVER!!
Yes, only after it reaches his teenage years!! LOL
And this is definitely my favorite-and-the-best-movie of all time, to date. PERIOD.

Perhaps it really motivates me to be a great Geologist one day and I mean this! Geologist can make a good astronaut for sure. hahahaha.. I love the part where Rockhound (the geologist) said,

I'm begging for help

I just found out that the online course that i'm taking right now, MUSIC 009 runs all summer long. I thought it was only for the fisrt summer session. So, here i am, totally STUCKED! I'll be away for at least 2 weeks in July and that would cost me 2 weeks worth of quizzes points and a peer review assignment. *sigh*

The thought of dropping this class is a NO NO! coz i'm already tired of looking for courses that satisfy US/IL, and most importantly, courses that is not so hard to get an A. Plus, if I were to drop it, that would mean that I'm stranded here in State College now, wasting my precious summer holiday just to take the f**kin 1.5 credits tennis class.

**URGHH!!**

So, I will have to find the way out of this problem. But how?? I cant think of any possible solution right now but someone proposes me to ask for someone's kindness to help me for that 2 weeks. Meaning, someone who can read the respective chapters for the respective quizzes and pf course answer them for me and also doing the peer review. But the big question is: who will help me???

So to anyone out there who is so kind to help this poor little guy, please let me know ok?? I really need the help when the time comes. And in return, I'll try my best to treat you at Berkey Creamery for 3 times, which equivalent to the number of tasks that you will need to help me out. and i'm so thrilled coz they're my favorite songs!

and I listen to No Boundaries everyday.

I love this song particularly after listening to it several times coz when Kris sang it for the 1st time in the AI finale, i didnt fall for the song. However, now that I listened to various renditions of this song, i found myself totally into it. My favorite is of course acoustic version of it as we all know, Kris is so very lively with his guitar.

as usual, i woke up at 12.

feeling so sore coz yesterday i played tennis like there were no tomorrow! and i absolutely will play more tennis later this afternoon! hahaha..im sooooo into this game right now but havent got the chance to buy a tennis racquet for myself yet. *sigh* and yeah! Federer won the French Open!

and we watched 'The Nines' last night. I was hoping that this movie would make me jump off the chair but hell no! It left us with mere frustrations! We didnt even get the motive of the movie! I felt like jumping out of this building instead! The movie was so f**ked up that we felt like that was the worst 2 hours of our entire life! So guys, dont ever think of watching this movie eventhough the ratings were not that bad actually. The thing is, I just didnt get it! maybe, it requires a lot of thinking and concentration which I dont quite agree as i personally think that the whole point of wathing movie is to make u feel good, and RELAX.

oh well, forget about the movie.

summer boredom!

seriously,
now im brutally bored with my summer life here.
should have gone back home last week, but what to do? all the tickets were sold out.
*sigh*

my summer routine:
-go to bed at 2am
-wake up at 1pm (thats funckin 11 hours of sleep! sometime, it was more than 12 hours!)
-tennis at 4pm (the best part of the day)
-music009 after tennis

and that's it!

and i only be working on Friday and Saturday this week.
basically, the weekdays are suck! haha..

so, the weekend is when the fun begins.
On friday, we catched a movie and i watched 'Ghost of the Girlfriend's Past'. All i can say, it was worth my $7.25! haha..

last saturday, we had this huge potluck gathering at my place. A lot of Malaysian delicacies and they were all mouth-watering at first sight! haha..
my personal favorite pick would be the rendang, pau ayam, popia, kek batik, bihun and definitely the kuih jala. Thanks everybody!
and later after the makan-makan, we watched couple of movies: Wrong Turn and Love Actually. I recommend them both! Must watch! WARNING: you shouldn't eat anything while watching Wrong Turn, unless u gonna chock or unintentionally vommit! trust me! haha..

and on sunday, went to play tennis coz it was really beautiful out. hung out at the creamery. bought myself a cookie and cream ice cream. that was my 1st time buying ice cream for myself there at the creamery. only after my 2nd year here, pathetic isnt it?? haha..all this while, i just tasted what everyone was having, without the need to buy for myself..LOL

oh yeah, spent almost an hour reading others' blogs, and i wonder, how the hell they are so RAJIN to update their blog! they are so much committed with blog-updating and this intimidates me, hence this entry. haha..

i personally love NONO's blog. Is it because she being my best friend, or is it her humble-and-honest-writing that makes me craving for more from her?

-I got a terrible GPA
-My application of living alone with a rent rate at $670/month was rejected by Petronas
-My auntie passed away due to heart complication
-Started the summer session classes. Changed classes here and there. Did a late drop for the 1st time (Eng 202C).
-Switched my minor from Sociology to Mathematics
-Daju, Kavind and Ajmal graduated. so long, farewell.
-The Midwest Games has been canceled due to the worsening swine flu condition
-Left alone at home while my other roommates went hiking to Smoky Mountain and received a bad news from them saying one of our friends, was drowned to death.
-And it was raining all day today

this is my 100th post and coincidently marks the birth of my new baby!!

i was so thrilled yesterday morning when the FedEx driver knocked my apartment door and presenting my long awaited-new-navy blue-dell laptop. and actually, that was his 3rd attempt delivering my package sebab when he first came, no one was in the house..i was actually out to the field trip..the 2nd attemp was last tuesday tapi sume org masih tido so x sedar..

the driver came about 8.45am wednesday morning and aku lantas x pegi kelas lepas tuh, sebab sexcited sgt nak bukak and setup and evrything..

btw, it's an inspiron 1320, a 13inch laptop..by miles smaller and lighter than my old laptop..

oh ya, what do i do with my old-gigantic-mr toshiba?

hurm..i'll bring it back to malaysia this july and maybe give it to my brother..

i just got back from a 2 days field trip..

it was fun, exciting and of course educating..

Dear readers,

the semester is going to its end soon..
to be perfectly honest, i'm not scared of the finals..**kondifen nampak????**

but i'm more worried pasal projek2 and presentation yang rata-ratanya due before finals..one individual paper and presentation for marine geololgy..Oil and gas plak, group presentation and os kof, a paper..urgghhH!!!

i only have 2 finals tho..and i'll be done by tuesday afternoon!! how's that?? huhuu..tapi merasalah nnti penangan final geosc310..katanya, bende yg kteorg tgk tyme field trip weekend nih, sumenye masuk final! matilah camni!
oh, bercakap ttg field trip tuh, sabtu n ahad nih kteorg round2 eastern PA..berjalan jalan melihat alam sambil menganalisa segala jenis batu batu, formasi formasi and later on, reconstruct balik the history of this region..

actually, aku dah fed up dgn diri sendiri sebab sikit2 nak melatah..nak complain ni, nak complain tuh..padahal sume bende pun dah tau due date nye..ni tak, last minute baru nak terhegeh hegeh buat..tu baru bab buat assignment..kalau study for exam pun sama je kekdahnyew! kalau x last minute x sah..contoh terdekat..semalam ade exam sociology..aku siyes underestimate the materials of this course..so, aku amek ringan sajor..pukul 12 tgh mlm baru start nk study..mengantuk plak, so tdo la aku tanpa menghabiskan study berkenaan..besoknya, menyusahkan diri sendiri bangun awal untuk habiskan the chapters..and for this particular exam, aku gamble by not reading the textbook..aku just bace lecture notes semata mata..

so nk tahu kesudahannya??

seperti yg dijangka, 20% of the questions came from the textbook yakni, die x ajar lanson dalam kelas..it's ur own responsibility to further read the textbook..so aku main baling dadu la jawabnyah! pilih jawapan berasaskan logik semata-mata..walaubagaimanapun, aku harap markah aku x terok la..kalau terok sekalipun, i know i deserve it..**dush dush tamparan di dahiku!!**

to be frank, aku rasa aku mcm nih sebab Tuhan x tunjuk lagi bahananya..sekali Dia nak bagi, terjelupuk la aku..jatuh ditimpa tangga, tersembam muka, terpatah lengan, terbuta mata dan macam2 lagi lah..

tyme tu baru la aku tahu langit nih tinggi ke rendah..

you just couldn't imagine how nervous I was when Ryan said it was either Anoop or Kris in the bottom 3..
I pressed my face on a pillow, didn't want to face the reality..
And my heart stomped even more vigorously..
Finally, I heard Anoop's name was called as the 1st contestant to be in the bottom 3, and he said, "Kris, you may take your seat."

oh!
online shopping can be tiring sometime..
yeah, it happened to me..
I'd been browsing through the net for a decent pair of hiking shoe for these past 3 days..
and the climax was today..
to my own surprise, after hitting the 'confirm order' button, i realized that I had spent more than 3 hours looking for this particular shoe..after hopping from one site to another site, from one brand to another brand, from one review to another review..
oh my!! i'm so tired..
and confused..yeah confused because sometime, I would look for a very high quality and expensive shoe, but there were time where I would go for a cheaper price without looking much at its quality..so many things came across my mind..
does it have to be water proof? does it have to be mid cut kinda shoe? urrggghhhh....

and FINALLY I ended up with this affordable Columbia shoe because the brand Columbia itself already represents quality to me..
i know my knowledge regarding hiking shoe is very very restricted as there are a LOT of hiking shoe manufacturers besides North Face and Columbia, the 2 most popular brand among geology students..=)

CRAP! if i were to spent that 3 hours doing something more important, I cud have done more than one article summaries and maybe a lab report!!

The bottom line is, this has to be the most tiring and confusing and stressful shopping experience I have ever had..

KRIS ALLEN!!!
i'm worried that he might go home tomorrow..his performance was not as convincing as his previous performances and maybe his weakest so far..the problem is that everybody did really really well especially Adam Lambert who received standing ovations from all of the judges!
I honestly think it will be either Lil or Kris or Anoop or Scott that will be sent home..considering this, I believe Lil and Anoop have a huge fanbase..as for Scott, I think he'll be safe..oh that left us with Kris...oh no!!! dialidol indeed, predicted Kris to go home..this definitely gives me a headache..urgg..now I feel terrible for not voting for him just now as I was busy 'shopping'..

we'll just see how it goes tomorrow..

p/s: congratulations to kak carrie for winning top female vocalist and most importantly 'entertainer of the year' during the recent ACM..all hail to kak carrie!!

That is basically what will be happening in the upcoming 4th Akademi Fantasia concert.
BUT!
There is always a twist =p
The girls will be singing Amy Search's songs and the guys will do Siti's.

I think it will be really interesting..

I'm now paying more attentions to Hafiz, Aishah and Claudia in this cycle of AF cos I think they have what it takes to excel in the competition. PLUS! All of them are Sarawakian. **big grin**
But, I doubt Hafiz's ability to sing ethnic song. He'll be singing 'Cinta Ini', one of the songs in Siti's latest album, Lentera Timur. But, he has been so consistent for the past 3 weeks and being the best performance for 3 weeks in a row. So I hope 'Cinta Ini' won't bring him down.

Claudia's song will be 'Suralaya Dalam D Major' and Aishah will be singing 'Mentari di Ufuk Timur'.
I hope they can pull these songs really well and make them their own.

oh, btw I registered classes for Fall'09 already last night. I'll be taking 16 credits altogether. 3 Geosciences classes (as always). The other two are WMNST 003 (Woman Studies, Humanities and The Arts) which satisfy GHA and US/IL; and SOC 023 (Population and Policy Issues) for my minor.

heay guys..
its been a while jugak rasanya since i updated this blog..
hurmm..
nothing much happened in my life last week..
except for some busy preparations for Malaysian Night which is gonna be this Friday night..2 more days to go! yeay! and yeah, I'm in charge of the PELAMIN..leading a group of 5 manpower with saudari Ada..we did a shopping for the materials at Walmart last Friday and we spent a surprisingly 3 hours there.. the best part was that we spent within our budget which is $100..

and there was a birthday party too..Apai's and Sapeq's..and played Wii after that..huhu..my arm is still sore right now..huh..macam work out kat gym je kekdahnyew..hehe..

I am currently listening to her 3rd pair of singles which are "Broken-Hearted Girl" and "Ego".
One interesting fact pasal this album is that setiap kali die nak kluarkan single terbaru, they will come in pair..why? this album is all about Beyonce true self (I AM) and her alter ego (SASHA FIERCE)..so, lagu yg kuar mesti la satu yang serious sounded and the other one represents her alter-ego..
menarik kan?
for example, her 1st single was "If I Were a Boy" and the alter go was "Single Ladies".
Bak kata tuan punye badan, Beyonce sendiri, "I Am" tu more like what she really wants to portray or in other word, "I Am" tu adalah "Beyonce Knowles" la..And "Sasha Fierce" tu plak caters to her fans yang prefer die nyanyi lagu2 yang up tempo, gelek sana sini, menari bagai..pendek citer, she's a DIVA! hehe..**btw, lagu Diva pun best ya'alls!**

Back to the song, I really love the song Broken-Hearted Girl in particular sebab it is a really good song! I love the lyrics..the melody just seems to come together with the lyrics..very melodic, very soothing and touching indeed..
so people, go listen to this song..I encourage you so much to do so and you won't regret..hehehe..if you'd say "Dangereously In Love" was a brilliant performance of hers, I'd say "Broken-Hearted Girl" is far better than that..Her vocal has becoming more mature these days..Oh! Grand Old Opry week

Just finished watching American Idol top 11 just now.
The theme was Grand Old Opry (Country songs) and there were 2 Carrie Underwood's songs being performed. SO SMALL and JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL by Matt and Danny respectively. I love how different the way they sang those songs and they really amazed the judges.
And loving Anoop's and Kris' performances as well.
Unfortunately, country was just not Lil's cup of tea. I think she'd be safe even though she didn't performed really well.
All and all, I'm pretty sure it would be either Michael or Alexis who will leave the show tomorrow.

omg!

holiday means to almost no blogging at all to me..

I dunno why..

i feel less likely to blog when it's school break..

and now i feel irritated by those blogs that are well-updated unlike mine, which the latest entry was written week ago..

well, nothing much is going on this spring break..I wasn't going anywhere..the furthest i'd say was the cinema where I went to watch 'He's just not that into you' all by myself couple of days ago. Why tengok sorang2? oh, because I refused to watch 'Watchmen' with my friends and decided to watch '.....into you' instead.

yeah, one more thing, i think i look like a 'kek lapis' now sebab hari2 pun buat kek lapis..**sigh** hence i guess my spring break is no fun at all..**sigh lagi**

and baru je recover from demam..I thank God sebab demam during spring break..it would be a hell of a burden if it is school time..

and oh, it's my dad's 50th birthday today!

OMG! he's 50 already..people do gets old huhh?? hurmm..

American Idol..

watched the top 13 last tuesday..was expecting Jorge to leave but not Jasmine..Yes, there were 2 contestants leaving the show this week, as there is a twist in the rule which i think unnecessary coz it just makes everything more complicated..

I'm pretty sure Anoop will go far in this competition..top 4 maybe, as i think Lil Round, Adam and Danny are more deserving to be in the top 3..but, things may change..we'll see..

And I love the new cycle of ANTM..the models look really good, all of them..and I love Aminat and London in particular..

PLUS!

I have added 'Make Me A Supermodel' as my must-watch-TV-shows alongside AI and ANTM and couple of Malay dramas on TV3, and also OIAM3 and AF7 starting tomorrow..

And I think Make Me A Supermodel is better than ANTM..less drama and more runways!

and it's almost 3am now..and i have to go to bed..need to do something important tomorrow morning..

i'd been happy for the past few days..hurm..sik, just after 4.40pm marek lekak aku siap polah exam 310..most of my happiness come from kelegaan habis exam 310..and tambah gik malam tadik, finally aku berklaka ngan hanum..nya miak vandy and she was visiting penn state..n guess wat? kmkduak klaka mcm dah kenal 5 taun and berpisah 5 taun..haha..awok ajak miak lain nangga mekduak klaka cam x ingat dunia..haha..

so, hanum, it was really nice to finally meet u! u're fun! haha..should've known u earlier kan?? tok kaWu **note the W** dah mok grad dah..alu x sempat la kita mok bergossip pjg2 gik..ngehehehe..

owh, antara isu yang menjadi bahan bualan mekduak adalah pasal tersasul bahasa swak ngan bahasa KL..and hanum crita la pasal qayyum..miak miri nk study sama ngan nya..tyme ya org dtg bilit qayyum..and tok apa nak d padah nya, "sorry la, bilik aku MENGARAI..tak sempat nak kemas.." tapi miak semenanjung suma cam x paham..hanum sorang jak leput2 tetak tyme ya..Ya Rabbi!! takorg x nangga aku tetak dgr nk di crita hanum tok..aduhh..x pat ku bayangkan qayyum boleh tersasul perkataan MENGARAI..

**qayyum was trying to say that his room is 'bersepah'..but instead of just using the word 'bersepah' he used 'MENGARAI'..the problem is, in Sarawak, it supposedly be 'MENGAREY' instead of 'MENGARAI'. So basically, qayyum 'semenanjungkan' perkataan sarawak which i think was very funny!!**

Help me get through this guys!
I'll be having 3 exams next week. 2 on Monday alone, and the other one on Thursday. 2 on Geology classes and the other is Sociology.
I even have a group presentation on Tuesday and a lab due on Wednesday.
And Redifer Student Employee Meeting is on Monday night, the night before the group presentation for Marine Geology.
One thing about this presentation, we are still in the stage of figuring out when and where to meet, let alone the business of discussing and constructing the power point presentation and most importantly, appointment with Demian. All of those need to be done as soon as possible but we literally haven't started anything yet! We even don't know each other!! OMG!
Gotta keep myself composed and prepared for the challenges I'll be facing. Work hard! Pray hard! Study smart! **perghhh**
oh! I almost forgot about one thing. I work on Sunday night ya'alls!! I'll be going home from work at like 10pm the earliest. I'd be extremely exhausted for sure and I definitely have to fight that in order to do revision! How I'm hoping that at this moment I'm done with at least half of the materials but the truth is, I haven't started anything yet!!!
OMG!
I'm scaring myself here.
Ok, I don't wanna drag this issue and giving myself a headache.

Oscars and Thon 09

fuhhh~~
The Oscars ran for about three and a half hour last night..and all i can say is, it was breathtaking!
The host, Hugh Jackman did a really really good job. One thing that surprised me most was that he can sing!! The awards show was so theatrical or very Broadway-like, and I love it! And there was Miss Sasha Fierce, Beyonce too!!!

And most importantly, Slumdog Millionaire swept away 8 Oscars including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Song.

I love the concept that they brought up when announcing the nominees for acting categories. Some of the past winners described the achievement of each nominee and it was full with emotion and very sincere indeed.

I'm so dissappointed with myself for not even went to the BJC for THON this year due to many circumstances. However, congratulations for raising 7.490,133.87 million this year, slashing last year's record, $6,615,318.04. I'm so proud being part of Penn State's society because we care FOR THE KIDS!!

ARGHHH!!!
I'm pissed off and soooo disappointed..
It was the 1st result show for the 1st group of top 36 to know who are the 3 contestants who get the most vote to proceed to top 12.

And guess what??
Anoop didn't make the cut!!!
I know it was really tough last night as everybody performed their very best (I have to admit that this season's contestants are by far the most talented).
But the thing is, I really (really really) want Anoop to make it through the top 12.
I was shocked to find out that Michael Sarver instead made it..I have no idea why America prefer Michael as opposed to Anoop. I know I sound bias here but tell you what, Anoop really can sing dude!!

And it was no surprise to see Danny Gokey and Alexis Grace guaranteed their spot in the top 12 because both of them were incredible last night, and I personally feel that they are the top 2 best performance of the night.

However, there is still hope for Anoop. There will be a wild card show in 2 weeks time. In this wild card round, the judges have all the power to pick 3 contestants who they feel deserve a spot in the top 12 but have gotten low vote during the top 36 show.
And since all of the judges are crazy over Anoop, I'm damn sure that he will make it. **grin**

So, no more worries.
Am crossing finger for Anoop.
And I'm starting to like both Alexis and Danny. He was really amazing singing Mariah Carey's 'Hero' and I really like it even though I can sense that he was trying to imitate last season's winner, David Cook.
I'm looking forward to see Lil Round and what Norman Gentle has to offer at this stage of the competition.
And I hope to see jamar Rodgers in the wild card round. He totally deserves to be in the show.

Efficient procrastinator

okay, a confession has yet to be made:

It is official today that it is my first day of skipping class of this semester. How should I feel about it? Regret? hurm..i should not..I have a plenty of reasons to doing this..it is not that I overslept and being a lazy ass to get up of the bed..I've been to marine geology class at 11.15am and even had a wonderful breakfast at the Dunkin Donuts before..
But why do I do this?
The reason is simple yet might sounds complicated:
It is the opportunity cost that played in my mind as my eye was staring at Damien's notes on the board..yes, my mind was actually somewhere else during the lecture..
I was thinking, how the hell I can complete marine geology's summary and homework in 2 days time..yes, it sounds crazy that both of them are due this coming Thursday.
BUT!
I still have a lab due tomorrow..geology of oil and gas lab which requires me to use MAC to do it..dont ask me why coz Windows isn't capable of doing this **another strong reason for me to buy a Macbook..wink wink**
So, now i am sitting in the library's computer lab **of course using Mac desktop** and updating this blog which definitely the last thing I should be doing considering my current situation..ngehehehe..
Yeah, back to opportunity cost..I sacrifice the 1.25 hours of the-matilah-kalau-skip-lecture-by-the-great-Rudy-Slingerland because I think I need time to do some other works..yeah people, i know i'm procrastinating now but, this is what i think it takes to be efficiently procrastinating which is to use every second possible to finish everything up even by skipping lectures..I know my friend will back me up by giving me their notes and lecture recordings so that I won't be so left out..hehehehe...

so, enough with blogging for now..get back to work haleem!!!!!

ingat lagi tak ngan akak kite yg sorang nih, MELINDA DOOLITTLE?? she was a total vocal powerhouse in the 6th season of American Idol even though she didn't make it to the final 2. despite, i still love and adore her talent. and thank god, finally, she released her debut album entitled, COMING BACK TO YOU. it's a blend of R&B, jazz, blues and gospel. and ya, it brings you back to zaman kegemilangan aretha franklin and gladys knight gituh..

Considering that she's one of the only American Idol contestants ever to transcend the show's karaoke trappings, it's not much of a surprise that season seven finalist and erstwhile professional background singer Melinda Doolittle offers, with Coming Back to You, what is easily the strongest, most self-assured debut album by any of the show's many alums. Doolittle's run on Idol was characterized by unusually shrewd, genre-aware song choices and a vocal style that cast her as a throwback to classic R&B singers who relied more on soul and distinctive phrasing than the show's usual substitutions of melisma and glory notes. So rather than attempt to adopt contemporary trends that would be ill-fitting with her natural talents, Doolittle and producer Mike Mangini have wisely opted for a retro-minded style that falls right into the singer's wheelhouse, and the result is the first Idol debut that functions as a fully realized statement of artistic identity.

Although the album is a collection of covers, many of these songs are relatively unknown (opener "Fundamental Things" is lifted from one of Bonnie Raitt's lesser recent albums, while "If I'm Not In Love" was most recently done by Faith Hill), meaning that Doolittle is not competing with any iconic performances. That gives the singer ample room to flex her considerable muscle: She vamps and growls through a sultry rendition of blues legend Bobby Johnson's extraordinary "Dust My Broom" and conveys a palpable sense of longing on the title track. It would be too easy to call these readings effortless; that Doolittle has put serious thought into her phrasing throughout the record is clear on standout cuts like "Walkin' Blues" and the torchy "It's Your Love."

On the whole, Mangini's production choices successfully recreate an old-school R&B vibe, making excellent use of a Hammond B3 and brass section flourishes that never pull focus from Doolittle. What keeps the album from standing fully alongside like-minded records such as Sharon Jones & the DAP Kings's 100 Days, 100 Nights or even Nikka Costa's Pebble to a Pearl is that the production is a bit too studio-slick for Doolittle's lived-in vocals, and the session musicians, while undeniably talented, never quite cohere into sounding like a real band. That her backup occasionally lets her down, though, ultimately speaks to how confident Doolittle sounds here. Coming Back to You is an impressive opening salvo—even without the "for an American Idol" qualifier.

The Human Race Machine

During the recent Martin Luther King, Jr. day celebration, I had a chance to experience The Human Race Machine. Personally, I have never experienced using any machine of this kind before and this was totally new to me. The machine’s ability to morph my face into several main races, amazed me so much, and I am sure that I am not the only person to feel this way. Firstly, the machine captured the picture of my face and then it inquired my age. Later it started morphing my face and show how do I look if I were a Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Indian and Asian. I would say they look a bit different from my actual look; however Middle Eastern look matched my face very well. Besides, this unique machine helped me to envision myself as a 60 year old man.

The one thing that came across my mind as I stepped out of the machine is how equal humans actually are. We are equal in so many ways despite differences in hair color, skin color, the language we talk, the food we eat, the religion we belief and the country we live in. I realized that it is us who create the boundaries that segregate human into several groups or classes even though we are born the same in the eye of the Creator. This is what then results to what we called as prejudice, hence the tendency to cross the boundary and to discriminate against sexes, races, religion, and country of origin and so on.

I am really glad to have witnessed the effort of this university to instill the value of human equality amongst students by giving firsthand experience to this Human Race Machine. This would make us appreciate other races more. I admit that I used to have little prejudice over certain races because of my tendency to ‘judge a book by its cover’. And now that I realized how bad it is to think badly of other people, I believe that we human are all the same.

Apart from that, this machine makes me even prouder of being who I am right now. People have always perceived me as a Mexican which I think maybe because of my overall look and skin color. Despite their perception, I am proud to tell others where I come from, which is Malaysia. The opportunity to explain to them where Malaysia is located, what language we speak, what food we eat, and what religion we believe in; makes the proud feeling grow even more tremendous in me. Being an international student here in Penn State, I always consider myself as the black sheep of the society as opposed of being a frontrunner. But, The Human Race Machine changes it all. This very experience gives me a new perspective of life as the minority in this college or America in general, that I am the same with other people, be them White, Black, Indian, Chinese or whatever race they might be.

p/s: This is actually the assignment for my sociology class. Just got it done just now and I wanna share it with you guys =)

Yeah, the first part of the Hollywood week was shown last night. Judging from the audition, and what I watched last night, I have some favorite contestants already! **woot! woot!**

They have the voice, the talent, the look, the potential and most importantly they are what this whole competition is all about. I'd love to see them through the top 12. And I'm pretty sure one of them would be the in the final 2.

However, they were no snapshots of Frankie and Michael last night, but I'm pretty sure they did so well. And I think Michael Castro will surely overshadow his brother form last season, Jason Castro.

It will be a tough season I guess because everybody is really talented. So guys, tune up to FOX every Tuesday and Wednesday 8pm ET!!

Dilema dan kebuntuan

aku dalam dilema..
summer class registration is just 6 days to go..
and yet aku rasa mcm nak balik je the whole summer..
but aku rasa mcm nak amik je 1st session class..
argh!!!!
should i just go home and enjoy my beautiful relaxing holiday for 3 full months?
or should i take some summer classes and go back home for just 6 weeks?

any advice or suggestion?

u guys might say, "balik je la!! next year bukan nye ko boleh balik pun!!"

but my inner self says, "go take 1st session class, and then balik la..amik sikit je kelas, tapi ko keje banyak..35 hours a week maybe?? so, ur eurotrip dream akan tercapai."

when i think back, i'll say, "oh, bapak x best kalau balik sekejap..tak sampai 2 bulan pun..dah la one week burn camtuh je sebab OBS..nak pegi majlis kawin kengkawan lagi..xde masa nk spend ng family.."

Oh! sgt penat!
semalam, which is ahad..I worked for dinner shift which ended at 9pm..but it was 10.30pm when I walked out of Redifer..huhh~ Super Bowl punye pasal, I stayed until the game ended with the Steelers won the thingy..btw, i enjoyed the game eventho i had the chance just to watch the 4th quarter..huhu..

dari redifer, went straight away to library sebab nak buat lab report yg due today..the lab was about Irish Valley Member in Catskill Formation in which we have to come out with 5 sedimentary facies to describe the formation..bunyik mcm senang, but!!!! pecah kepala jugak nak figure out 5 different facies to cater 8 hand samples and 7 thin sections...fuhh~~ by 3am, i was 80% done with the lab report...it was already tooooo late so i went home..scary jugak, sebab dah xde sape2 kat luar..

untuk menghilangkan rasa takut, i phoned my mum, borak2 so that takde la rase cuak sgt..got to talked with my youngest brother and my dad too..after a 13 minutes conversation, i finally made it to The Graduate..settled everything down and got to sleep by 3.45am kot..

then, ade plak kelas 9pagi tadi..so i woke up early..the earliest in the house as usual..and pegi kelas mcm biasa..pukul 2.30pm i had a lab (lab which i need to turn in the lab report)..thank god that there were no microscope observation or some sort this week..it was just some fill in the blank kinda lab..so, i sneaked out after one hour (it suppose to be a 3 hour lab..hehe..) and redeemed one and a half hour of my beauty sleep on the couch..huhuhu..skg baru ade rasa lega sikit..

so, people, pengajarannya, jangan buat keje last minute!!! x pasal2 x cukup tido! i've been reminding myself about this particular matter but it seems that procrastinating is always there in my blood..is it a genetic disorder or sumthin?? if so, I wonder where i might got it from..hahahaha..

so, it is clear that THE LONGER YOU WAIT THE WORSE IT GETS!!!!!!!!!
